Answer: iPod

The Apple product iPod got its name from the film ‘2001: A space Odyssey’.

In order to build the software for Apple’s new music player, Fadell teamed with a firm called PortalPlayer, who had been working on their own MP3 player. Tony Fadell’s team and PortalPlayer created a prototype iPod in about eight months. Users’ interfaces were enhanced by Apple by introducing a recognisable scroll wheel.
